I Want to Build Something That Matters

I Want to Build Something That MattersWhen people ask me why I like blogging, writing, and creating stuff, I always answer: “because I love creating something from nothing.”

That’s true, but the answer is a little over-simplified.

The whole truth is that I love the idea of creating something that didn’t exist before that truly matters.

It could “matter” to me, to you, or to someone I’ll never know.

But the point is, it matters to someone.

What are you building?

It could be a book, a movie, a documentary, or a blog, or something else entirely, but if you want it to be successful, you need to be able to answer that same question.

Again, it might just matter to you, and you alone:

  • “I’m writing this book because I need to write it”
  • “I’m building this business for my family”
  • “I’m painting this because I can’t NOT paint it”

This week, I’m launching something that I believe matters.

Yes, it’s a product, and yes, it’s going to cost money–but more about that later.

The main point of creating this product is that I believe it’s going to truly matter to you.

Think back to when you signed up for the newsletter, or starting getting this blog delivered to your RSS reader or inbox. Why did you sign up?

What was the question you have that you wanted answered?

  • Wondering how to build a platform from the ground up?
  • Wondering how to find the time to blog, write, and promote on social media?
  • Wondering how to connect with, engage, and mobilize your readership?
  • Wondering how to grow and increase your platform?

All of these “wonderings” are questions I’ve built into this product. They’re all things I’ve wondered about, and they’re crucial to building a platform and making a name for yourself online.

And all of these questions matter.

But the main reason I truly believe this thing we’re launching is going to matter is that I’m not just releasing it into the world, taking a step back, and watching the results.

Rather than creating another “information” product that’s for the most part “hands-off,” I’ve built in some services.

That’s right–this isn’t just a downloadable product–depending on which version you choose, I’m going to be with you every step of the way, and in some cases even doing some of the work for you.

It all comes back to creating something valuable.

I don’t exist in a vacuum–everything I write, create, and do is started because someone (maybe you?) has emailed me, messaged me, or called me and said they’ve struggled with it.

Everything I put into this “creation” is due to a question that I’m trying to answer for you.

You don’t have to buy it–again, you’ll get the details later this week–but if you know someone who would benefit from any of those “wonderings” up above being answered by someone who’s been there, I would ask that you share it with them.

You can forward it in an email, Tweet or share it on Facebook, or just link to it from your own blog.

Next steps

So, if you’re intrigued or interested at all by all of this talk of questions, value, and such, stay tuned–it’s going to be a busy week, but it’s going to be a blast.

I’ll be sending out more emails and writing more “pre-launch” blog posts tomorrow and Wednesday, and then it all starts on Thursday.

Watch for the specifics–pricing, times, etc.–and please let me know if you have questions! You can email, leave a comment, or just use the contact form. I want to hear from you–if you’re not sure what this is all about, or how it could help you or your business, don’t hesitate to ask!

I hope to hear from you, and I really hope you’re as excited as I am about this!
